Welcome to ISPCA Wicklow
(Formerly: The Wicklow Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals)
For over a century, ISPCA Wicklow has promoted the responsible custody of animals, prevented their cruelty, and rehabilitated and re homed countless numbers to better lives.
Over this time, the society has also become an intrinsic part of the Wicklow community and a focal point for social good, through volunteering, education, employment, fundraising and the promotion of rural sustainability.
Sharpeshill Sanctuary

Our society runs the Sharpeshill Sanctuary, one of Ireland’s largest homes to unwanted animals, including dogs, cats, horses, donkeys and goats. We are a not-for-profit charity, primarily financed by the enormous efforts and generosity of the people of Wicklow and beyond.
The sanctuary features our recently opened Pamela’s dog park, where visitors can safely let their pets roam free, and indulge in a coffee while browsing our shop for animal equipment, foods, toys and treats.
OUR PRINCIPAL OBJECTIVES
The primary purpose of ISPCA Wicklow
Animal welfare – to protect and care for all animals
Advise and educate – to pass on our knowledge
Community engagement – to include and involve all
ISPCA Wicklow achieves these objectives through animal welfare processes, such as sheltering, feeding and treating abandoned animals, and proactive animal management services, such as micro-chipping, spaying and neutering. The local community is an integral part of the care and rehabilitation of these animals, through volunteering, fostering and adoption programmes. The society has also become a focal point for local social engagement, offering employment, running events and accommodating special needs and rehabilitation-programme visitors.
